Chapter Ten

Quentin was sitting waiting for Onika to call or text him thanking him for the flowers. He sat in the living room looking around and felt empty because he couldn’t feel Onika or Unique’s presence. He admits that he messed up big time. He just wanted her to forgive him so they could move on with the situation. After waiting for a few hours, he realized that she wasn’t going to call so he changed into some shorts and tank top before heading to the park to ball. He looked at the time and saw that Anthony should be off by now so he called him to see if he wanted to come and ball with him.

“Yo, what’s up?”

“Nothing, headed to Cherry Street to ball. Come ball with me,” Quentin told Anthony.

“Okay, I’m home right now. Let me change and I will meet you up there,” Anthony said and Quentin could hear him moving around.

“Okay,” Quentin hung up then tried to call Onika. He was surprised that she answered.

“What do you want? I’m about to change my number.”

“I’m checking to see if you got the flowers.”

“I did, are you looking for a thank you? If you are, don’t wait. You’re not going to get one,” Onika snapped.

“Why you being so mean?”

“Why do you keep begging me?”

“Don’t answer a question with a question.”

“I hope you don’t expect me to be so nice to you. You straight up disrespected and embarrassed me. Now you want to wear me down and beg me to be nice to you and give you another chance. Both answers are no!”

“I never took you as being a bitch.”

“I never took you as being a terrible husband and a cheater. I guess my outlook was wrong,” Onika said then hung the phone up.

“Onika! Onika!” Quentin yelled in the phone but it was too late because she had already hung the phone up. “Dam!” he tossed the phone into the passenger seat. He had to figure out a way to make everything up to Onika.

Pulling up to the park, he saw that it was full of people. It would be easy to get a couple of games in with all the people being there. He saw that a game was about to start so he hopped right in it. Just as he was putting his bag and ball down, he heard his phone ring. Makeya was calling so he answered it.

“What’s up?” he answered.

“Nothing, what you doing?” she asked.

“At Cherry Street park about to ball. Come through if you want because I’m bout to get in this game.”

“Okay, I’m on my way.”

“Okay, see you later,” he hung the phone up and got in the game. Quentin was in the middle of playing when Makeya came and sat on the bleachers. He paused the game then walked over to her. “What’s up girl?” he said and she stood up. He twirled her again getting a good look at her. She was wearing a fitted shirt something like a tank top with jeans and some thong sandals.
